At least 7 dead and 14 wounded. Please say a prayer or keep them in your thoughts. I work with the military on a day to day basis, this is sad news indeed.

On a very serious, non political note... please pray for victims and families in Fort Hood Texas?

Thanks.

What city/county in Texas had officers or deputies who were supposed to have been killing young men...?
This story's scary. HOW's Canada considered a FREE country!?Is child-porn law THAT important? Is it worth it?
Please read this little article first...I even read it in the news yesterday.

http://www.p2pnet.net/story/30574

This story is even worse then the time some guy in Texas got arrested for selling pornographic cartoons in the 18+ section of his own comic shop!!

Look, I'm AGAINST the idea of child pornography....everyone is. Even pedophiles are!! (Child Molesters=Pedophile, BUT Pedophile =/= Child Molesters...some times)

So I can see why most countries these days outright outlaw the stuff. But does it feel like Canada take it WAY too far?? The stuff depicting real children, I can agree with.......maybe even if the participant is concensual, it should still be illegal...I forgot the reasoning, but it still should be (too stupid to give actual consent or something).

But Canada also banned the obviously FAKE stuff...which I admit is a bit controversial in the conservative western world (China and Japan doesnt have a problem with it, and they have far fewer sex-crimes).

Just read that story...a man got arrested because he wrote a few FICTONAL stories about himself and some made-up TEENAGERS....teenagers are considered children now!?

1)For other canadians out there, even NON-Canadians...how does the general Canadian public feel about their child-protection law?? Especially in regards to obscene materials...we all agree on the real stuff. But what about FICTONAL depictions, more importantly, PICTURE-LESS stories about yourself and a FICTIONAL teenager? Do Canadians actually agree with the law extending this far?? Or are there quite a few out there that feels this is a bit...draconian?

2) What was the basis for arresting the man anyways? Something to do with child-pornograpgy, yes I know. But...a series of written words is even LESS graphic then your average diaper commercial, or that controversial movie starring Dakota Fanning.

3) So...why is Canada considred one of the "better" or "free" country in this world again? Even the ever-conservative US allows this stuff to fly.Longstory short, should victimless crime be outlawed just because it offends a couple of people?

These things are quite legal in other countries....who happen to have significantly LOWER sex-related crime then the West.

Oct. 30 (Bloomberg) -- Representative Ron Paul, the Texas Republican who has called for an end to the Federal Reserve, said legislation he introduced to audit monetary policy has been “gutted” while moving toward a possible vote in the Democratic-controlled House.

The bill, with 308 co-sponsors, has been stripped of provisions that would remove Fed exemptions from audits of transactions with foreign central banks, monetary policy deliberations, transactions made under the direction of the Federal Open Market Committee and communications between the Board, the reserve banks and staff, Paul said today.

“There’s nothing left, it’s been gutted,” he said in a telephone interview. “This is not a partisan issue. People all over the country want to know what the Fed is up to, and this legislation was supposed to help them do that.”

The Fed, led by Chairman Ben S. Bernanke, has come under greater congressional scrutiny while attempting to end the financial crisis by bailing out financial firms and more than doubling its balance sheet to $2.16 trillion in the past year. The central bank is also buying $1.25 trillion of securities tied to home loans.

Paul, a member of the House Financial Services Committee, said Mel Watt, a Democrat from North Carolina, has eliminated “just about everything” while preparing the legislation for formal consideration. Watt is chairman of the panel’s domestic monetary policy and technology subcommittee.

Keith Kelly, a spokesman for Watt, declined to comment and said Watt wasn’t immediately available for an interview. Watt’s district includes Charlotte, headquarters of Bank of America Corp., the biggest U.S. lender.

Original Language

Paul said he intends to introduce an amendment to the bill when it comes to the House floor for a vote restoring the legislation’s original language. And for those interested in this issue, would you pass the information on? Friday is the traditional end of the week news cycle and things happening Friday evening tend to be buried by Monday morning. Which is why they announce bank closures and things like that on Fridays.Oh, and by all means feel free to contact Watt, as well. Find out what he has against transparency. Here, in case you care to communicate with Congressman Watt http://www.house.gov/formwatt/IMA/issue_subscribe.htmResistance, I knew they were going to try, and we have to stop it, just as we got 308 cosponsors to the bill, to begin with.

HR 1207 federal reserve audit bill gutted? Would you write your reps to restore it?

I'm a student reporter writing a story on treatments and research for cluster headaches and would like to speak to some actual sufferers of this debilitating condition, and not just doctors and scholars. Please let me know if you're interested. This would entail me getting your phone number and email (you don't have to leave it in your answer) for contact purposes. Serious replies only, please. Also, Texas residents are of special interest to me.

Are there any cluster headache sufferers out there who would be willing to be interviewed for a news story?

A study shows that 1.5 million NY state residents left in recent years due to a large part to high taxes, and 1.1 million left NYC, which has particularly high taxes. Guess where they are going? To places like Texas and Florida and Arizona...

I left Boston because it was getting ridiculous. High taxes were causing prices to go up so high on everything, I had enough. Now I am living so much better with less taxes in Texas.

When will you liberals get it? high taxes are not the solution to all our problems, in fact, they are often the CAUSE of a lot of our problems.Fleeing, sorry.

Liberals, if high taxes don't negatively affect the economy, why are people feeling NY at alarming rates?

they believe they're being patriotic? Altruistic? Serving a greater purpose by hiding truths? Or is it just for money? Or possibly they could face government punishment?

Examples might be like when they report something very briefly in the news one time and then never air it again. That way if challenged, they can always rightly say they did air it - Mandatory voting in Canada, NAU agreement being signed in Wacko, Texas etc...

Other examples; Walter Cronkite telling Americans Muslims are just crazy and that's why they attacked.

Other examples; Only choosing to interview anti-globalization protesters with blue hair and piercings that really just showed up to throw bricks in a drunken haze and never outlining their concerns.

Other examples; Only reporting numbers of dead soldiers of the invading country, never the numbers of civilians killed.

When they do this, how do they sleep at night? Soundly, in the belief they're doing the right thing? On a big pile of money? At gun point?
